Who we are
Meridian Home Start is a company set up by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, specifically established to provide affordable privately rented homes in the borough.
Our purpose is to provide high-quality affordable private rented homes for local working families who would otherwise find it hard to buy or rent on the open market. These homes are available to working Greenwich residents who have lived in the borough for 5 years and are available at discounted market rents. Meridian Home Start is a Community Benefit Society registered with the Charities Commission and is independent of the Council.
Meridian Home Start is a creative initiative contributing to the delivery of the overall housing strategy and supply of housing in Greenwich through the provision of affordable homes to rent. Together with other initiatives within the borough of Greenwich, such as the Council's own Local Authority New Build programme, Meridian Home Start represents a significant opportunity for the Royal Borough to achieve its objective of increasing the supply of affordable housing in the borough.
Meridian Home Start is currently in the process of delivering its first phase of development, which includes building just under 300 new affordable homes across six sites, with average rent levels to be set at or below 65 per cent local market rent levels.
